There must be a better way

By Navin Nageli

If you are tired of the status quo, it is probably because of one or more of the following reasons:

1. You see your staff doing things the same way just because it's been this way for the past 20 years and it drives you nuts

2. You know the tech world has changed so much within the past 5 years but you still see your agency using antiquated tools that worked great in the 90's and early 2000's

3. There are people in the organization that are stuck in their ways and refuse to change even if a better thing landed in their lap

4. Your agency faces the same reoccurring problems and it does the same horse manure clean up each time over and over again

You know deep down that there has to be a better way. The reason you are tired of the status quo is because you are wired differently.  You cannot stand inefficiency, wasted time, misuse of resources, and lack of accountability. You like to learn and grow everyday and you embrace change knowing it is difficult. You are like this in your personal and professional life. You are constantly improving yourself and your organization.

If this is you, you are not alone and there are many of us who feel this same way. You can make a 1% improvement in many areas and reap the benefits of microexcellence (read about Sir Dave Brailsford, former performance director of British Cycling, revolutionized the sport using the theory of marginal gains) or make a big splash that gets you hockey stick results (read about Elon Musk and the SpaceX program). Either way, keep on striving and change the status quo. You know there is a better way.
